Texas city approves $18 million to build a police station, remodel fire stations

The city of Fate will spend $17.7 million to build a police station and remodel two fire stations. Bids for designers will open in March 2025, with construction beginning later this year.

Constructing the police station will cost $15.7 million. The two-story building will cover 20,000 square feet of space and include parking, utilities, furniture, equipment and IT infrastructure.

The building’s first floor will open into a lobby with both a reception and night reception desk attached, as well as a connected public restroom and interview area. Additional space will be allocated to offices for patrol sergeants, an open patrol office, a briefing room, a records clerk’s open office and records storage space.

The layout includes dedicated areas for fitness, as well as storage space for evidence, drugs, weapons, drop off and a technician’s desk. There will be an armory storage and work room, as well as a forensic garage with overhead doors, a break room and multiple regular, secure and soft interview rooms.

The second floor will also include a lobby area connected to a large training room. Plans call for ample office space, as well as conference rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, a server room and space for a system admin area. The city will incorporate a quarter master office with dedicated regular and ammo storage.

Another $1.5 million will go toward converting a city-owned building to a second fire station on the south side of the city. The remaining $500,000 will support remodeling efforts to
