Marthel Young
Strategic Partnerships welcomes Dr. Marthel I. Young, a retired educator and administrator with 35 years of experience, as a field consultant. Dr. Young graduated with honors and earned several degrees, including an Associate in Education from Tomlinson College, a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga (UTC), and Education Specialist in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. She also received a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Dr. Young served as principal in three elementary schools in Tennessee. Each school has been recognized as successful and earned honors, including the highest percentages of highly effective teachers, highest value-added scores in Hamilton County and third highest in East Tennessee, and Reward School status.
Her honors include Leadership Fellows, Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Teacher, PTA Elementary Principal of the Year, Hamilton County Principal of the Year, Southeast TN Principal of the Year, and a finalist for Tennessee Principal of the Year.
She has served as president of the Hamilton County Principals’ Association, mentor for aspiring administrators with UTC, and principal mentor for Hamilton County. In addition, she has served on various committees and as the Leadership Coach for the Tennessee Department of Education and the Southeast Tennessee representative on the Principal’s Study Council for the Tennessee Commissioner of Education.
Dr. Young also is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Chattanooga Cohort 2018 and continues to volunteer to support initiatives that positively impact the greater community.
