John Thompson
When it comes to knowing the ins and outs of local government, Strategic Partnerships, Inc. Consultant John Thompson’s experience “in the trenches” makes him a valuable asset to the firm’s clients.
For more than three decades, John experienced the highs and lows of local government from the inside. His public service career began in 1983, when his first entry into local government politics resulted in an eight-year stint on the Livingston City Council. For five of those years, he served as mayor pro tem. In 1991, John was elected Polk County Judge. He retired from his county judge post in 2015 after 24 years in office.
The longtime public servant’s roots in local government run deep, as do his relationships and his credibility with public officials at the federal, state and local levels of government. John has been an active participant in state, regional and national associations and organizations, and he served as president of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments and president of the National Association of Regional Councils.
John also served on the Texas Department of Transportation’s Texas I-69 Advisory Committee. He was chair of the Alliance I-69 for Texas organization and on the executive board of the I-69 Mid-Continent Highway Coalition. John is also a former executive committee member of the Texas Good Roads and Transportation Association.
John holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
