Howard Patterson

Dr. Howard Y. Patterson is a seasoned higher education leader with over two decades of experience in university administration, athletics, student affairs, and strategic partnerships. As Vice President at the University of Texas at Tyler, he played a pivotal role in fundraising efforts, securing over $37 million for targeted projects and scholarships. His leadership extended beyond campus, serving as Chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and a Board Trustee for the Whitehouse Independent School District.

An American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, Dr. Patterson holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Texas and has completed executive programs at Harvard University. Throughout his career, he has successfully led multimillion-dollar budget operations, strategic planning initiatives, and university-community collaborations, including the establishment of UT Tyler’s first NCAA athletic program and a university-community health clinic. Recognized for his excellence, he has received multiple national awards and hall of fame inductions.
