Bruce Hermes

Bruce Hermes uses his diverse government information technology (IT) experience to help private sector sales professionals understand their target customer culture, needs, values, and thought patterns.  He helps create strategies that reach the government executive outlook and uncover “unknown unknowns.”

Bruce is a 40+ year veteran of IT in both Texas state government and local government in Austin, with government IT executive experience in multiple organizations.  He has used both top brand names and new, niche offerings to improve IT in all these organizations and developed excellent working relationships in all directions around him.

His IT experiences spans government administration in health, insurance, education, courts, agriculture, public safety, transportation, and a variety of municipal government functions.  He has led software developers, trainers, project managers, systems administrators, and security professionals, as well as entire IT organizations.

His government IT leadership roles have been at the Department of State Health Services, Texas Education Agency, Texas Office of Court Administration, City of Austin, Texas Department of Agriculture, and the Austin Transit Partnership.

One of his rare privileges has been to stand up an IT organization from scratch in a new government organization.

Before becoming an IT professional, Bruce worked in retail and publishing.

His education includes a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish and a master’s degree in Public Administration, both from Texas State University.  His volunteer work has included extensive work in community organization management.
