Garland starts design to redevelop city’s historic downtown square
The city of Garland released new concept renderings that provide an early look at plans to redevelop the city’s downtown square with green space and a playground.
By transforming the square into a pedestrian-friendly recreation space, city leaders hope to turn it into a destination that welcomes the public and invigorates Garland’s historic downtown.
The square also will continue to serve as the city’s gathering place for annual holiday events and celebrations.
Officials estimate the design phase to be about 12 months, after which they will move into the procurement and construction stages of the project.
