Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has chosen the next members of the Florida Transportation Commission (FTC). Out of the six selected to serve on the commission, two are new appointments with the remaining retaining their current chairs. |
Barbara Haselden has been newly appointed to the FTC. Aside from being the head and owner of her own insurance company, Haselden currently serves as a member of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority. She graduated from Ball State University. |
Hung Mai is the second appointment to the commission. Mai is the current president and CEO of a transportation and water resource engineering company, roles held since 1993. Before his appointment, Mai served Hillsborough County as a member of its River Basin Board and Planning Commission. He has a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Saigon. |
Among the governor’s reappointments, John Browning Jr. will remain a member of the FTC, a role he was originally appointed to in 2020. He is president of a consulting company and holds a chair at the Florida Historical Commission. In addition, Browning is a member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Restaurants and Lodging Association. He holds a bachelor’s in business management from Florida State University. |
Richard Burke will also stay on the commission, a position he was appointed to in 2019. He is also an operating partner at an energy investment firm, a board member of a waste management company, serves on the Board of Directors for K9s for Warriors and the Environmental Research and Education Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s from Randolph Macon College. |
David Genson was reappointed to the FTC. He currently works as president of development for a real estate company, as well as serving as a member of the Naples Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Collier and Leadership Florida. Prior to his most recent roles, Genson served on the Collier County Housing Authority. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. |
Gov. DeSantis selected Alex Lastra as his final reappointment to the commission. Lastra currently works as the managing partner of a real estate development firm. Before his most recent roles, Lastra was senior managing director and president and executive board member of two separate development organizations. He has a Bachelor of Finance from Florida International University. |
