TxDOT planning statewide hearings on 'Plan 2035'

The Statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan 2035 includes TxDOT's goals for transportation in the state in the future. The goals include maintenance of the current system of roads and highways, reduction of traffic congestion, safety enhancement and economic development. It will provide information on the needs of a variety of transportation improvements – from roads and rails to bikes and airports.
The plan will cover the period from 2011 to 2035. It will include an analysis of the current transportation system, analysis of future needs among different modes of transportation and projections of future funding for each method of transportation.
"We need to hear from Texans – transportation partners, elected officials, industry stakeholders and citizens," said Saenz.
In the meantime, the Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved the Draft 2011-2015 TxDOT Strategic Plan and authorized TxDOT to seek public comment on the draft document and its outlined priorities. After public comment is received, the 2011-2015 plan will be completed and presented to the Commission for approval, probably in June. It will be submitted to the Legislative Budget Board and the Governor's Office in July.
